Stephen M. Rice

Stephen M. Rice is a shareholder with Silverman, Smith & Rice. He attended Michigan State University (B.A. 1992) and received his law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law (Cum Laude, 1995). While at Cooley Law School he was a senior associate member of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review and was named to the Cooley Law School National Trial Competition Team and received the Bureau of National Affairs Award. In addition to his practice, he has served as an adjunct faculty member teaching Business Law at Cornerstone University. He recently obtained a settlement recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as one of the year's largest settlements in the State of Michigan.

Steve provides clients with a broad range of services with an emphasis on litigation. He has appeared in hundreds of court proceedings, at the administrative, trial and appellate levels. His views on legal developments in employment law, litigation, and technology disputes have been featured in business and legal publications. He is admitted to practice before all Michigan Courts, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the American, Michigan, and Kalamazoo County Bar Associations.

Steve was raised in Portland, Michigan. His varied interests include backpacking, playing basketball and softball.
